3 Points – April 17, 2014

1. City are done.

Though they've obviously got 3rd locked down, they'll see this season as a major disappointment after only winning the League Cup, especially after all the promise they were showing in February. Bad defending (and bad goalkeeping) has been their undoing. Can't really blame Kompany for not playing well, but City were so unlucky against Liverpool.

Against Sunderland, however, Wickham took advantage of terrible defending for the first goal, then beat Hart at his near post for the second. That's not how a champion defends. They now rely on Chelsea and Liverpool both dropping at least 4 points apiece in the remaining fixtures (whilst winning all of theirs as well), and I don't see that happening. However, stranger things have happened (as City fans are well aware).

2. Joe Hart needs to get his head out of his ass ASAP

The streakiest player I've ever seen, possibly. He's only ever in amazing form (like his performance at the Bernabeu last season) or in terrible form (see this week against Liverpool and Sunderland for example). This man is Hodgson's uncontested #1 Choice (which Fraser Forster SHOULD have something to say about, but doesn't), and he needs to show up in Brazil or England are going straight down.

Have you seen this man?

3. Chelsea vs. Liverpool is going to be MASSIVE (obviously)
*Note shameless anti-Liverpool bias*

I'd like to hear something from AG or Bons on this, but I think Liverpool have it wrapped up. Let's look at the remaining fixtures for each side, and I'll identify the "nasty" fixtures with (**) –

Chelsea
Sunderland (home) **
Atletico (away) **
Liverpool (away) **
Atletico (home) **
Norwich (home)
Cardiff (away) **

Liverpool
Norwich (away)
Chelsea (home) **
Crystal Palace (away) **
Newcastle (home)
Chelsea clearly have more to worry about, as they're still in two competitions. Liverpool have the luxury of having less to deal with. No excuses though, for me, it's what they get paid to do. Both managers are going to be focused till the final whistle. It's gonna take a hell of a job from both sides and City still have the most minuscule of chances to still snatch it from under both of their noses.

...

Okay, *Liverpool hatred goggles off*. Gerrard looks desperate to win the title. He sees a chance with everyone having off years, and it looks like the only chance he'll ever have at it. I don't see that kind of determination (or leadership) from anyone at Chelsea. Liverpool are far more focused and are going to win the title. Excuse me while I go puke.
